Armand Douglas “Armie” Hammer, born August 28, 1986, Los Angeles, California, USA, is an American film and television actor, best known for starring in the film “The Social Network”.
Hammer was raised on the Westside of Los Angeles and the Cayman Islands. He attended Faulkner’s Academy in Governor’s Harbour, Cayman, Grace Christian Academy in the Cayman Islands (a school founded by his father), and then later went to LA Baptist High School in the San Fernando Valley. He later attended the University of California, Los Angeles where he then dropped out to pursue a career in acting.
Hammer started his career in 2006 in the film “Flicka” playing a minor role. He followed that up playing the Christian evangelist Billy Graham in “Billy: The Early Years” which premiered in October 2008. The film garnered Hammer a “Faith and Values Award” nomination in the Grace Award category, which is awarded for the Most Inspiring Performance in Movie or Television.
Hammer has also appeared in the television series Arrested Development, Veronica Mars, Gossip Girl, Reaper, and Desperate Housewives.
Hammer’s breakout opportunity came in 2010 when co-starred in David Fincher’s “The Social Network” about the creation of Facebook, portraying both the identical twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss.
