Brendan Joseph Hansen, born August 15, 1981, in Haverford Township, Pennsylvania, USA, is an American breaststroke swimmer and four-time (two gold, one silver, one bronze) Olympic medalist.

Hansen is a former world record holder in both the 100 and 200-meter breaststroke (long course). He has won a total of twenty-three medals in major international competition, seventeen gold, four silver, and two bronze spanning the Olympics, the World, and the Pan Pacific Championships.

Hansen attended Haverford Senior High School. He swam for many different clubs, including Karakung Swim Club. His main stroke was breaststroke.

Hansen’s well-known for his unique style of breaststroke, which incorporates a kick that is much narrower than the other swimmers.
