Dustin Clare, born January 2, 1982, in New South Wales, Australia, is an Australian actor, best known for his starring role as Gannicus in the Starz mini-series “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena” and “Spartacus: Vengeance”.
Clare studied at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, in which he graduated with a degree in dramatic arts.
Clare made his acting debut in 2003 in a short film, “Brothers”. His first TV appearance came two years later in ‘All Saints’.
In 2006-2007, Clare became known to Australian audiences for his portrayal of Riley Ward on the series McLeod’s Daughters, where he appeared in 48 episodes.
Clare’s claim to fame is when he starred as Gannicus, the champion gladiator of the House of Batiatus, in the 2011 Starz series “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena”. This is the prequel to the series “Spartacus: Blood and Sand”. He returned his role as Gannicus in “Spartacus: Vengeance”.
