Leigh Halfpenny, born December 22, 1988, in Gorseinon, Wales, is a Wales international rugby union player who plays for the “Cardiff Blues” regional side.
Halfpenny is a young wing/full back, playing for Cardiff Blues and the senior Welsh National side. Having only been playing senior rugby since 2008, he has already represented the Blues over 60 times and has a strong 35 caps for his national side.
A former Wales U20 regular, Leigh made his full debut when he was just 19 years old against South Africa and managed to put points on the board. Since then he has represented Wales in the 2009, 2012, and 2013 Six Nations and the 2011 World Cup.
Halfpenny has a keen mind, not only on the pitch but also off it. Despite all his rugby commitments, Leigh is also studying Physical Geography at Aberystwyth University. On the pitch Leigh’s main attributes come from his strong decision making capability, coupled with his pace and kicking ability make him a thorn in any defensive line up. Having recently impressed at playing full-back as opposed to his usual wing position, he is also extremely versatile.
