George Blagden, born December 28, 1989, in London, England, is an English actor, best known for his roles of the cynical revolutionary Grantaire in the 2012 movie adaptation of “Les Misérables” and in the TV series “Vikings” as the monk Athelstan.

Blagden began singing at age 13, performing in various choirs and his own rock band. He later attended the Oundle School with a Drama scholarship. Following his graduation, he studied Acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, from which he graduated in 2011.

In 2011, Blagden received his first acting role as Andy in the feature film “The Philosophers.” Also on the same year, he appeared in “Wrath of the Titans” and “Les Misérables.”

In 2013, Blagden was signed in the American History Channel mini series “Vikings” playing the role of monk Athelstan opposite Travis Fimmel.
