Ignazio Abate, born November 12, 1986, in Sant’Agata de’ Goti, Italy, is an Italian professional footballer who plays as a fullback for Milan in Serie A. He is renowned for his quick sprints down the right wing.
The son of former Italian goalkeeper Beniamino Abate, Ignazio’s professional career started in 2003 in A.C. Milan. During the debut season the young defender didn’t come off the bench and thus was loaned to Napoli in 2004.
Ignazio took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, participated in the 2009 European U-21 Championship held in Sweden, and also played for the Italian team for UEFA Euro 2012.
