David Swallow, born November 19, 1992, in Western Australia, is an Australian rules footballer for the Gold Coast Football Club.
Swallow played his junior football at Rossmoyne Junior Football Club (Rossmoyne Raiders) and was named on the half-back line of the 2009 Under-18 All Australian team as a 16-year-old.
The No. 1 draft pick came to the SUNS as a midfielder, but added another string to his bow last season by showing he could play as a running half-back.
Announced himself in that position in round six against Fremantle when shutting livewire Hayden Ballantyne out of the game.
Not only are his defensive skills good, but Swallow showed real pace and loved to take a bounce coming out of defence.
He is combative and fearless and, with his skills continually improving, is likely to return to the midfield in coming years.
In the meantime, Swallow has shown he can be of value in more than one position.
