Alan Bersten, born May 26, 1994, is an American dancer best known for competing in season ten of So You Think You Can Dance. He has appeared on Dancing with the Stars and he teaches at Dance With Us America. Born in Minnetonka, Minnesota, his family is from Russia. He is the youngest of three and his older brother Gene also auditioned for season 10 of So You Think You Can Dance. Bersten started dancing at the age of 7 and was taught by his older brother. Alan became proficient in Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Bollywood and Broadway.
Bernsten played guitar when he was younger. He attended the University of Minnesota when he was just a senior in high school, through a program called P.S.E.O. (Post Secondary Enrollment Option). On top of being a professional dancer, he’s traveled the world, loves Seinfeld, calls his mother frequently, and is very superstitious. He is highly inspired by hip-hop dancer, Stephen twitch. He has a wicked sense of humor. He is genuinely hilarious and appears to enjoy poking fun at himself.
Alan joined Dancing with the Stars for Season 20 as a Troupe dancer, and he’s been a part of the show ever since, currently competing in season 25, which premiered on September 18, 2017. Alan loves watching documentaries, is addicted to chess, and considers gummy bears to be his weakness.
